Teaching and Scientific Profile
The department offers the following undergraduate and graduate courses: algebra, number theory, discrete mathematics, combinatorics, graph theory, topology, set theory and mathematical logic, computer algebra.

Research topics
Universal algebra, lattice theory, number theory, computer algebra, category theory, real functions, algebraic and differential topology, mathematical logic, nonstandard analysis, graph theory, didactic of mathematics, philosophy of mathematics.

Organizational Activities
The department is one of the founders and a long-term co-organizer of the traditional international Summer School on Universal Algebra and Partially Ordered Sets.
